Dock Sud

[2026]

Martín M. Oesterheld

Fiction
After years of absence from the neighborhood of his childhood, Coast Guard Petty Officer Iván Mayorga works at a port post in Cruz del Eje, where he receives a court summons urging him to report to Buenos Aires. Convinced that he is being sued by his ex for arrears in the maintenance of their young daughter, he asks for leave from the station and packs his bags, with the idea of finding the necessary arrangements to sell his parents' apartment where his sister still lives. Analía, who was in the care of their mother during her last years until her recent death, has been left alone and without family living in the house in Dock Sud. Despite the distance and Ivan's continued sullenness, the news of her brother's arrival makes her happy. Everything goes at a steady pace until Analía also receives a court summons. It is the same one that came to Ivan a few weeks ago and of which she was not even aware. She must appear, as her brother did, before the National Commission for the Right to Identity. The situation strained the relationship between the two. Despite always having suspected that they were not the Mayorga's biological children, the possibility of being victims of an appropriation at birth during the civil-military dictatorship produces opposite reactions in the siblings. Ivan fiercely denies the idea, vindicating the figure of their father -Prefect Mayorga, who has been dead for years-, while Analía dreams of rewriting her past and soon begins to perceive herself as another person, turning her search into an obsession. The past has caught up with them. They will have to find together a new family form that will allow them to move forward while waiting for the DNA results.
